The municipal administration in Viernheim is taking advantage of its move to a state-of-the-art building to present itself as more citizen-friendly and service-oriented than ever before. The furnishings are well thought out and designed with sustainability in mind, from the room concept to the floor coverings from the objectflor EXPONA SIMPLAY collection.
Since the end of February, the town of Viernheim has had a new town hall with a new working concept. Instead of offices, employees now have open-plan workspaces at their disposal. The ‘clean desk principle’ applies, so that workstations can be used flexibly on a daily basis in line with activity-based requirements. To ensure concentrated work, there are additional workstations and focus boxes for individuals and groups, specifically designed for meetings, telephone calls and video calls. In addition, there are meeting rooms of various sizes on all floors and communication zones with floor kitchens.
Modular, versatile and sustainable
The new floor design in the Viernheim town hall is just as flexible as the concept. Almost 2,000 square metres of EXPONA SIMPLAY have been installed in the office building designed by Träger Architekten in the shape of an ellipse. The collaboration between the planners, the flooring company Centerra Integrated Services and objectflor went hand in hand with a convincing result: the colourful façade is contrasted by a subtle colour scheme in the interior – implemented in a combination of an oak look, carpet in a warm grey tone from the EXPONA SIMPLAY Carpets collection and an authentic-looking concrete decor. The modularity of the collection ensured that material losses and waste caused by the shape of the building were significantly minimised. ‘The ease with which the loose floor coverings can be removed and the fact that they are 100% recyclable were further important factors in the decision to choose EXPONA SIMPLAY,’ explains architect Roland Träger. And since a good working atmosphere is a defining feature of the new town hall, the focus was also on a healthy indoor climate.
