" Vinyl flooring from objectflor is the ideal solution for modernising hotels whilst they remain open for business. "

Modernisation whilst the hotel remains open

New designer hotels are springing up everywhere, setting new trends with individually designed rooms and contemporary interior concepts. At the same time, hotel guests today expect high standards in terms of facilities and design. For many hotels steeped in tradition, this means that existing areas must be modernised step by step without unnecessarily disrupting day-to-day operations.

Rather than closing the entire hotel for renovation, many hoteliers are therefore opting for modernisation in stages. Design floor coverings from objectflor offer various options for this, as demonstrated by the example of the Weissenhäuser Strand holiday resort on the Baltic Sea.

Efficient modernisation with EXPONA

The EXPONA COMMERCIAL and EXPONA DOMESTIC collections can be installed in stages and are therefore also suitable for renovations whilst the premises remain open. Individual areas can be modernised gradually, meaning that the entire property does not necessarily have to be taken out of service all at once.

Depending on the condition and structure of the subfloor, various preparatory tasks are required before laying a design floor. As an example, for a 20 m² room, including priming and the necessary drying times, a working time of around eight hours can be estimated. The actual duration depends, amongst other things, on the subfloor and the specific site conditions.

The tiles and planks used in designer flooring have a low installation height and – provided the conditions are suitable and the necessary preparations have been made – can also be laid over existing tiled subfloors as part of a renovation project. This allows, for example, living and bathroom areas to be designed with a consistent, coordinated wood-effect finish.

Step by step towards a new look

At the Weissenhäuser Strand holiday resort, built in 1976 and expanded on several occasions, areas ranging from apartments and restaurants to the prestigious reception areas of the 4-star beach hotel have been modernised with design flooring from objectflor since 2010.

A variety of wood-effect finishes are used, each giving the individual areas their own distinctive design character. In addition to the option of renovating in stages, the product-specific properties of the design floor coverings are also relevant for use in the hotel sector.

The floors are designed for high-traffic commercial areas and can be cleaned and maintained in day-to-day use in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Should a single plank need to be replaced due to damage, for example, it can be specifically replaced provided the installation conditions are suitable.

The EXPONA COMMERCIAL and EXPONA DOMESTIC collections thus offer a solution for hotel areas where design, usage and the practical implementation of renovation measures need to be combined.
