" A key design and functional element of the project is the use of artigo rubber floor coverings. "

As part of a comprehensive consolidation process for the German headquarters of an international medical and technology company in Eschbach, a forward-looking, fully flexible working model based on desk-sharing— and the concept was honoured with the GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2024. The aim of the project was to create modern workplace structures that promote collaboration, efficiency and individual flexibility in equal measure.

The new workplace concept replaces a previously fragmented office layout with a clearly structured, coherent working environment. A variety of open-plan and enclosed spaces offer tailor-made working conditions for the respective teams. The office spaces are directly adjacent to a large-scale logistics facility, which plays a central role in the company’s Central European operations.

The planning and implementation were carried out in close collaboration with Studio Z20 AG, Workplace Architecture, Badenerstrasse 565/B, CH-8048 Zurich. The studio was responsible for all project phases – from the strategic groundwork to the design-led construction management.

Function meets comfort – hygiene starts with the floor

A key design and functional element of the project is the use of artigo rubber floor coverings. These prove their worth in everyday office life thanks to their hard-wearing nature, durability and ease of maintenance. At the same time, their impact sound insulation properties, slip-resistant surface and pleasant feel ensure optimum comfort – ideal conditions for open-plan workspaces with high acoustic requirements.

Surface quality is of central importance, particularly in working environments with heightened demands on hygiene and cost-effectiveness. The smooth, non-porous surfaces of artigo’s rubber floor coverings are easy to clean and offer no space for bacteria to settle or multiply. This is complemented by bacteriostatic properties that support a hygienic environment.

Furthermore, the material’s versatile design options allow for harmonious integration into the overall colour and material scheme, combining functionality, comfort and design into a sustainable flooring solution.
