Lunge Running Shop: A running concept featuring EXPONA SIMPLAY

In Hamburg city centre, the Lunge running shop offers high-quality products and personalised advice for runners across 750 square metres. The floor design, featuring objectflor vinyl flooring, complements the shop’s layout and creates suitable areas for test runs.

A welcoming destination for running enthusiasts from the greater Hamburg area: this is how the Lunge running shop, situated near the Alster, presents itself. Julia Gustafsson, the architect in charge, describes the objectives behind the refurbishment and extension as follows:

“The new shop is designed to bring the brand’s philosophy of ‘Handcrafted meets Running Technology’ to life in an atmospheric and impressive way. After all, Lunge has its own shoe factory in the Hamburg metropolitan area.”

The range of international running shoe brands, training clothing and fitness accessories is showcased without giving the impression of a ‘high-performance factory’. The focus is on personalised advice. To this end, the shop offers spacious areas where customers can try on the shoes straight away.

“The running area, marked out on the designer flooring, is a key design element in this regard. It also guides interested visitors from the entrance area to the rear of the shop and forms part of the wayfinding system.”

Good design and a comfortable running experience

The design concept is particularly evident in the choice of materials: in the flooring design, wood symbolises ‘handcrafted’, whilst the concrete-effect finish reflects the idea of urban running. The combination of different finishes also distinguishes the various zones of the shop.

Architect Julia Gustafsson has already used floor coverings from objectflor on several projects and, in her own words, has had good experiences with installation, delivery times, service and the range of designs.

When fitting out the Lunge running shop, she deliberately chose EXPONA SIMPLAY:
