A homely design for the ‘mittendrin im Kalletal’ care home

The ‘mittendrin im Kalletal’ care home has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere thanks to plenty of light, vibrant accent colours and a designer floor from objectflor in a warm wood tone.

Eva Markus, an interior designer specialising in healthcare, proposed objectflor’s cosy ‘Honey Ash’ ash-effect flooring for the nearly 450 square metres of the extension. In the reception area, the design flooring was combined with a porcelain stoneware tile. The chosen wood-effect finish blends seamlessly into the colour and furnishing scheme and enhances the homely feel of the rooms.

Designer flooring for different areas of use

When selecting the flooring, various requirements relating to design, cleaning and usage were taken into account. For the higher-traffic areas, EXPONA DESIGN with a wear layer of 0.7 mm was used. For less heavily used zones, the same design from the EXPONA COMMERCIAL collection with a wear layer of 0.55 mm was chosen.

The combination of different wear layer thicknesses allows the product selection to be tailored to the specific use. objectflor offers various collections and product variants for different applications.

The colour and interior design scheme was also specifically tailored to the needs of the residents and day visitors. Clear visual structures are created through highly visible contrasts between the furniture, walls and flooring, which can aid orientation within the rooms.

Combining design and technical properties

In addition to the cosy wood-effect appearance, the technical properties of the flooring were also important. For the variants used, the respective product-specific requirements for cleaning and maintenance must be taken into account.

Class R10 slip resistance is another specific product feature that can be taken into account when planning areas with corresponding requirements. Design floor coverings from objectflor combine different designs with product-specific properties, enabling a design that is tailored to the requirements of sheltered housing and care homes.

The result at ‘mittendrin im Kalletal’ is a design concept that combines cosy materials with functional requirements.
