iDentis Dental Practice, Berlin
" The choice of flooring is a top priority in our planning. The flooring embodies both function and emotion. It has a significant influence on the overall design of the entire project. " – Hubert Günther, interior designer and practice planner, Managing Director of pd raumplan GmbH
A dental practice with panoramic views and a touch of flair
At the modern iDentis dental practice in Berlin-Steglitz, functional requirements, comfort and individual design come together. This includes the objectflor flooring in a dark oak finish. The waiting area, with its fireplace and armchairs, is reminiscent of a modern living room. From the treatment rooms, there is a panoramic view over Berlin-Steglitz, with the ‘Bierpinsel’ – built in the 1970s – as a striking landmark. The practice itself is bright, welcoming and meticulously planned down to the last detail. A key focus of the design was creating a pleasant and calm atmosphere for patients. As Dr Thorsten Wilde specialises in aesthetic dentistry, interior designer Hubert Günther of pd raumplan made it a priority to ensure that the high standards of design and aesthetics were also reflected in the practice’s layout.
Using a bespoke concept, he aims to make the personality of each dentist and their working style tangible within the space itself. The experienced practice planner from Cologne attaches great importance to the choice of flooring:
“The decision on the flooring is a top priority in our planning. The flooring embodies both function and emotion. It has a decisive influence on the overall design of the entire project.”
The floor as part of the design concept
Across approximately 300 square metres, the dark, brushed oak finish contrasts with the white furniture and the subtly futuristic wall elements. The ‘Dark Brushed Oak’ design (item no. 6178) from objectflor’s EXPONA DESIGN collection has been used. The wood-effect finish complements the overall concept and creates a cosy atmosphere. At the same time, when it comes to flooring in a practice setting, the requirements for cleaning and maintenance are important. The flooring features a PUR surface coating and a sealed, easy-to-clean surface. Following the relevant technical tests, it has been found to be resistant to selected surface disinfectants.
The chosen flooring solution thus combines the design requirements of the practice with the technical requirements for flooring in the healthcare sector.
