GALERIA Kaufhof at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum: A modern department store concept featuring EXPONA COMMERCIAL

With just under 11,000 m² of designer flooring, objectflor supported GALERIA Kaufhof’s launch as a new-generation department store. The in-house developed shop concept combined the areas of interior design, construction management and visual merchandising into a unified design concept, which was implemented for the first time at the Main-Taunus-Zentrum. The retail areas were individually staged and imbued with emotional appeal through distinctive design ideas.

This resulted in an area within the fully modernised restaurant where meals were prepared live in front of the guests. The changing rooms were also given a distinctive character: in the style of a French salon, chandeliers and period-style ornamental wallpaper created a homely atmosphere.

EXPONA COMMERCIAL: Design flooring for sophisticated retail spaces

In department stores, high design standards meet intensive use and changing product displays. Floor coverings are required that blend harmoniously into the shopfitting concept whilst also meeting the demands of day-to-day operations. Factors such as durability, ease of maintenance, cost-effectiveness and a low installation height play a key role here – particularly at junctions with escalators, stairwells and emergency exits. Future refurbishments and adjustments to retail spaces should also be taken into account during the planning stage.

For the redesign of the Main-Taunus-Zentrum, EXPONA COMMERCIAL in the Honey Ash finish was chosen. The light wood effect, with its striking grain, lends the retail areas a welcoming atmosphere. At the same time, the flooring aids wayfinding within the space: the layout of the pathways and areas is emphasised through deliberate contrasts, whilst special display areas at the end points of the route draw the eye.

With its striking wood-effect finish, EXPONA COMMERCIAL blends seamlessly into the high-quality shop concept, combining individual design with the functional requirements of a large-scale retail environment.
