How do you create a space that instantly conveys a sense of relaxation and well-being? A hairdressing and beauty salon in Itzehoe demonstrates just how crucial an exceptional floor covering is.
As a spa manager at an exclusive hotel in Hamburg and a trainer for a well-known cosmetics manufacturer, Henrike Körner has had the opportunity to experience many wellness destinations around the world. She therefore had clear ideas about the fittings and furnishings for her own business. Located in the heart of her home town of Itzehoe, the salon has been welcoming customers since August 2023 with a spacious-looking designer flooring from the EXPONA COMMERCIAL collection.
The entrepreneur unhesitatingly chose the Oiled Oak design, a modern take on classic oak. With their colour contrasts and a distressed look, the planks appear particularly vibrant. Furthermore, the embossing accentuates the design’s striking grain.
It’s all down to the installation
The floor is also eye-catching because the large-format planks are laid in a herringbone pattern. This looks elegant and makes the spacious salon appear even more spacious. Florian Ehlers from Farben Holm KG, the company responsible for laying the floor, is delighted with the design flooring in an XL herringbone pattern: “The striking wood-effect finish really comes into its own in the main room. In separate areas such as the team room, we laid the planks in a classic pattern.”
For the comprehensive modernisation of the shop premises – which previously housed a bank and a service centre for Itzehoe Municipal Utilities – the flooring from the EXPONA COMMERCIAL collection was ideal. Some of the rooms had tiles, whilst others had carpet laid over a concrete screed. Following professional preparation of the subfloor, the design flooring could be laid quickly and easily without any chiselling, rubble or dust. Thanks to their ease of maintenance and durability, the attractive oak-effect finishes are now proving their worth in the salon’s day-to-day operations.
