A floor to suit every need

No one makes as much use of floor coverings as children: they play on the floor, crawl, build things and run about. In a new nursery in Herne, a light-coloured concrete-effect floor from objectflor provides a warm feel – and ensures durability.

Since November 2021, over 100 children have been playing and learning at the AWO nursery on Castroper Straße. As a single-storey building, the nursery was designed to be barrier-free and therefore inclusive. In six spacious group rooms, the children receive educational support tailored to their individual needs. The adjoining group room can be used for a variety of purposes: from a dolls’ corner to an activity area, an adventure zone, a creative space or a quiet zone. The spacious outdoor area also offers the children plenty of room for playful creativity: here, they can experience nature and the environment.

Flooring design to suit all requirements and spaces

In a nursery, the flooring has to be able to do a lot: above all, it needs to be durable enough to withstand daily wear and tear and be easy to maintain, but it also needs to have a look that fits in with the overall design concept. The planners opted for a large-format tile from the EXPONA COMMERCIAL collection. The tile, with its light cement-effect finish, looks authentic thanks to its characteristic subtle washes and creates a sense of calm in every room of the nursery. The design flooring was professionally laid by Sliwa harte & weiche Bodenbeläge from Recklinghausen, who also provided expert advice during the selection process.
