The success story of design flooring and LVT
The two rubber flooring collections, ARTIGO and SaarFloor, have been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® status in the ‘Silver’ category.
Rubber floor coverings have been part of objectflor’s portfolio for around 20 years. As well as design and performance for high-traffic areas, the focus is also on aspects such as material selection and recyclability.
The ARTIGO and SaarFloor collections already hold various certifications. The Cradle-to-Cradle Certified® Silver certification now adds another recognised accolade to their list. The certification assesses products against several criteria, including material safety, recyclability, water and climate protection, and social responsibility.
The flooring is based on natural and synthetic rubber. According to the manufacturer, residual materials are also utilised in the production process. The award confirms that the products meet the requirements of the Cradle-to-Cradle Certified® standard at the Silver certification level.
The Cradle-to-Cradle concept aims to ensure that, after use, materials are recycled as far as possible within biological or technical cycles. Products are developed in such a way that their components can be reused or further processed at the end of their useful life.
Stephan Wolff, Managing Director of objectflor, on the award:
“Our ARTIGO and SaarFloor products are characterised by the highest quality and rigorous quality controls. The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver certification confirms that the collections meet the requirements of this internationally recognised standard.”
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a globally recognised standard for safer, more sustainable products manufactured for the circular economy.
The Cradle to Cradle® certification is awarded to products that are either returned to biological cycles as biological nutrients or continuously retained in technical cycles as ‘technical nutrients’.
The Cradle to Cradle® design principles aim to have a positive impact on people and the planet. They apply to products that are assessed for their social and environmental performance across five critical sustainability categories:
