The Lounge Bar in the Sint-Elisabeth-Ziekenhuis Hospital in Belgium, with its appealing interior décor and elegant floor covering in the Oak look from objectflor, is impressive proof of just how pleasant a hospital café actually can be.

When it comes to ambience and atmosphere, the café for patients and visitors in the regional hospital in the small town of Zottegem in Flanders could very easily be part of an upmarket restaurant or hotel. This is thanks in particular to the use of top quality materials and the sophisticated colour concept based on dark red, pink to set a particular accent, a variety of shades of brown, and the warm honey tone of the floor covering. Nevertheless, with more than 300 beds and an ever increasing number of outpatients, the Sint-Elisabeth-Ziekenhuis Hospital, located between Brussels and Ghent, is, in the final analysis, a hospital in a quite traditional style, providing the focal point for care in the region. In Zottegem, however, a good step forward has already been taken from the typical hospital to the modern health centre. The facility puts the emphasis on service, with specialised care sectors, and an interior architecture specifically designed to create wellbeing.

The optimum solution for hospitals: The expressive Design flooring from objectflor

When designing the Lounge-Bar, the decision was taken at the Sint-Elisabeth-Ziekenhuis Hospital for a Design floor from the EXPONA DESIGN Collection, and the choice fell to the friendly “Natural Brushed Oak” quality (Decor No. 6179), with its light tone effect, laid over a surface area of some 800 square metres. There are many reasons in favour of the use of modern synthetic material floors in hospitals. The design of the high-quality wood-look planks can hardly be distinguished from the original material any longer. Added to this are the positive product characteristics that make this an unbeatable choice for the health sector: Vinyl floorings from objectflor are particularly hard-wearing, as well as ensuring easy, economical, and hygienically faultless care and upkeep. Even the toughest stresses pose no problem for the appealing look created by this floor covering.
